This is what happens when we're doing a poetry unit in English and told to make 5 poems in the style of Dickinson or Whitman, and told not to do haikus. i was listening to music and made 14 haikus and then changed them slightly so the teacher would accept them, don't read into these
darkness surrounds me/ dragging me down to the depths/ true oblivion
life ends abruptly/ breath leaving a lifeless corpse/ so much time wasted/ say you'll haunt me now/ i want to belong to you/ take me forever
the light falls slowly/ finally giving way to/ the darkness of night
the moon as in tides/ wanes then waxes quickly back/ the tide takes us over
the end comes to all/ taking us all in our turn/ the ultimate truth
hopeless romantic/ dies alone in his own room/ she doesn't notice
a country is lost/ it's flag slowly burns away/ the people burn too
it's lie one thousand/ papers cuts in vinegar/ slow pain takes over
a numbing charade/ when i see him holding her/ my heart dies slowly
these pills aren't working/ there are words carved in my chest/ my love lasts for her
poison in my mind/ your evil soul still kills me/ ends all conscious thought
everything's so blurry/ the thoughts of others fade away/ everybody is empty
darkness in our heart/ takes the mind over slowly/ another voice comes
